DAYS 1 - 14
From Nairobi, cross the Great Rift Valley, and camp in the Nakuru National Park where rewarding game drives get close to the abundant rhino, swathes of pink flamingos on the edge of the lake, and perhaps a glimpse of a leopard in the yellow acacia trees. From Nakuru travel north through the Kenyan highlands via Eldoret and enter the green and fertile country of Uganda. From a base near the source of the Nileat Jinja there is the opportunity to explore Africa’s longest and most famous river by wet and wild white water rafting, walking or quad biking through the picturesque villages on the riverbanks. In Uganda’s capital Kampala, take an excursion to Ngamba Island on Lake Victoria to visit a Chimpanzee sanctuary in Lake Victoria. In south western Uganda, trek the gorillas in either Bwindi Impenetrable Forest or Mgahinga National Park, and watching a family of gorillas in their natural home of lofty trees and dense mist-filled forest is an enchanting experience. Returning to Kampala, cross from Uganda back into Kenya and the bright lights and bustle of Nairobi.

DAYS 15 - 23
From Nairobi spend a couple of nights in the Masai Mara Game Reserve, easily Kenya’s most recognised wildlife park, before heading to the Rift Valley lake of Naivasha, known as the ‘sunshine lake’ and a real treat here is a brilliant sunset over the hippo-infested waters. Crossing the border into Tanzania, reach the busy safari capital of Arusha to explore the bustling local markets and perhaps have a photograph taken with an African snake at the Meserani Snake Park and go on a walk to a Masai Village. Here, swap on to a 4x4 vehicle for a 3-day excursion to the Serengeti, Olduvai Gorge and Ngorongoro Crater. Sleeping out here in the open bush is an exhilarating experience.

DAYS 24 - 29
After returning briefly to Arusha, continue eastwards and reach Tanzania's sprawling coastal city, Dar es Salaam, home to some frenzied local markets and a port for ferries to the exotic spice island of Zanzibar. Spend three nights on the island that immediately conjures up images of idyllic, sandy palm fringed beaches, romantic winding cobbled alleys and lush tropical forest. Leaving Malawidrive through rural Zambia and on to Livingstone, our base next to the Victoria Falls. The area around the falls is a veritable playground for adventure activities and you won’t run short of exciting things to do, though a visit to the grandeur and natural beauty of the falls themselves is a must on any visit to Africa.
